BYO Disabled Room

There are times when it isn’t possible to get a room that caters for people with disabilities – could be when staying at a friend or relative’s place or because the accommodation property doesn’t have availability, or indeed a room for disabled guests.

Voila!

An investment of around $50 can make life a lot more simple and stable – there are portable suction handles for bathroom from $5 to $15 that clamp onto a bath or bathroom tiles – just don’t use on painted surfaces or you may have a tumble that results in a needed patch and paint job.

Quite often accommodation properties advertising rooms for disabled guests have only considered the bathroom – rails near the toilet, and for the bath/shower, lower mirror and vanity access etc BUT only have room for wheelchair access in the living area.

For those who need to transfer from a wheelchair to bed, or even just need a hand getting out or turning over, a bed stick can be handy – I don’t know why hotels don’t have a few on hand – they can cost less than $40!

There are different shapes and sizes – this one is a Cobra.
