Weekend What’s On – In the Mood?

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is touring Australia in October and November this year.

Glenn was declared missing in action in 1944 when the plane that was taking him to entertain the troops disappeared over the English Channel.  He is still the best known big bandleader and his music still swings – the hits include In the Mood, American Patrol, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Moonlight Serenade, Pennsylvania 6-5000, String of Pearls, Little Brown Jug, Tuxedo Junction and (I’ve Got a Gal) in Kalamazoo.

“The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a colourful and flamboyant evening filled with fun and nostalgia of the 30s and 40s.”

I saw the band live once.  Just.  There were a few of the original members still alive and making up the numbers, so to speak.  This one will be aimed at a younger demographic.  In case my 20yo son is reading this (he likes swing, jazz and Big Band), the venue for you is the wonderful State Theatre in Sydney Friday October 12 and Saturday October 13 (matinee and evening).
