From Dubai to London

To Dubai airport for the final leg to London’s Heathrow.  I did plan to get a couple of hour’s kip but got swept away into 9 episodes of Matt Le Blanc in Episodes. Great concept, script, acting and direction – forget the frequent f-words, it is f-funny and f-fabulous.  Series Three (9 episodes) has just been commissioned – keep an eye out for it early 2013 (because of the adult themes and language won’t be before 9:30pm).

And Emirates again fed and watered us more than adequately in-flight – juices, wines from France and South Africa and a lunch of Tuna Nicoise, Cajun Chicken Fillet, lemon & white chocolate gateau, cheese and biscuits, tea/coffee with chocolate treats.

Less than seven hours flew by quickly and we arrived at Heathrow still fresh and eager to explore – after a quick pass through immigration, we picked up the hire car and headed west.

Picked up the car and had a two and a half hour drive to a little place called Box, about 10km from Bath.  The car was a new Ssangyong station wagon – less than $40 a day and plenty of room for all including three large bags and a wheelchair.  We chose the quaint little village of Box because it looked charming – and indeed it was – right is the view from our loungeroom window (we had a modern two bedroom apartment on the first floor).  And dinner at the nearby Bear Hotel was just a perfect English welcome.
