As We Like It – Sydney Shakespeare

Time for much ado about something because the Sydney Shakespeare Festival returns in 2013.

On Thursdays to Sunday nights from January 17 to February 24, Sydney’s harbour provides a spectacular backdrop for special productions of Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It.

Pack a picnic, grab your friends and head to Bicentennial Park in glebe for a night of theatrical magic. In fact, why not make it two nights?! Proudly supported by the City of Sydney, tickets are $29 for adults, $23 for concessions, $17 for students and FREE for children 12 years and under, people with disabilities and people aged 65 years and over.

Much Ado About Nothing delivers a battle of the sexes full of rapier wit and cutting observation; lies, laughter and love, with a stiff dose of betrayal and dashes of bawdy humour,” said Julie Baz, the Festival’s Artistic Director. “Whereas, As You Like It is witty, playful and utterly magical. It contains compelling and dreamlike escapades in which courtship is played out against a backdrop of political rivalry, banishment and exile.”

Designed by David Jeffrey, the 2013 Sydney Shakespeare Festival features original music by award winning composer Sarah de Jong. Each play is brought to life by a versatile and energetic ensemble cast: John Michael Burdon, Emily Elise, John Gomez Goodway, David Jeffrey, Caitlin Maruno, Dominic McDonald, Roger Adam Smith, Brendon Taylor, Jacob Thomas and Julie Baz.
