When I Walk

Do you know about Kickstarter? It is a website and a means where creative people can receive donations from ordinary folk like us to fund projects. This is the first one I have contributed to. It is a documentary called When I Walk that wowed audiences at the Sundance Film Festival and is now raising money to get theatre distribution.

It is a ‘real’ look at living with MS made by a talented filmmaker who was served up PPMS at age 25, and he turned the camera on himself. As well as being honest and real, it is inspirational, but not in the “I had faith that took me up Everest” kind of way. The reality is that Jason goes from walking to a cane assist to a walker to a scooter with his vision and hands also being affected.

The inspiration comes in the love story. Jason meets a woman at an MS support group (she doesn’t have MS, her mother does), and they fall in love. Despite his increasing limitations, the romance flourishes, and they marry. The film concludes with Alice getting pregnant.

Jason needs $27,000 and has over $18,000 already raised with ten days to go. You can watch the trailer here… http://wheniwalk.com. And the Kickstarter fundraiser here – http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/…een-lets-get-i

PS – Jason and Alice are now parents to a super-cute lad called Jase.
