CanberraThe Canberra Disabled Travel website is the second specialist destination disability site for Cane & Able Travel.

While there is more general travel information in the Canberra section on this site, Canberra Disabled Travel has more specific information on access and getting around when travelling with a wheelchair and where to stay.

We have explored Canberra with cane assistance (2011) and with a wheelchair (2013). Both visits were extremely rewarding. Canberra is arguably the country’s best destination for visitors with disabilities.

Canberra CarillonOn the recent visit we checked out the Museum of Australian Democracy (Old Parliament House), the Australian War Museum, the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery.  Parking and access fine at all of them.

All major attractions in the national capital have access and assistance facilities and, as a bonus, most of them are free!

We stayed at Rydges Capital Hill (there are eight rooms that cater for guests with disabilities) and there’s ramp access to the bar, restaurant and pool.
